Fred: What are you doing, Janice?
佛瑞德：你在干什么呢，賈尼斯?
Janice: I am reading the book on patent and I think it will be helpful for my work,
賈尼斯：我正在讀一本有關(guān)專利的書，而且我認為這對我以后的工作有益。
Fred: Patent? Are you also learning something about patent?
佛瑞德：專利?你是說你在學(xué)習(xí)一些有關(guān)專利的知識嗎?
Janice: Yep! I heard that your company is registering a new trademark.
賈尼斯：是啊!我聽說你們公司止在注冊一個新的`商標。
Fred: You are well-informed. Can you tell me something about the Patent Law in our country from the book you are reading?
佛瑞德：你的消總很靈通啊!從你現(xiàn)在讀的書里. 你能告訴我一些有關(guān)我公司的專利法要點嗎?
Janice: I just read this in the whole afternoon. Let me show you.

Fred: So coincidental. Actually we can exchange some information on this problem.

Janice: The purpose of the law is to protect and encourage inventions and to promote the development of science and technology. The law came into effect in 1984, and it consists of 8 chapters with 69 articles.

Fred: Is there any provision on applying for the patent for foreign company?

Janice: Foreign companies should appoint a patent agency, which is designated by our government to act as his patent agent. This task is usually taken by the Patent Agent Department.
賈尼斯：外國公司應(yīng)指定一個專利代理，這一專利代理應(yīng)是由我們政府設(shè)立的專利代理機構(gòu)。而這項工作一般專利代理部執(zhí)行。
Fred: How long is the duration of patent right for an invention according to your Patent Law?
佛瑞德：根據(jù)專利法，專利權(quán)的期限應(yīng)是多長時間呢?
Janice: 15 years.
賈尼斯：15年。

David: You are seemingly upset. What's behind you?

Fred: Arden wants to have a trademark for our new series of products registered. But I have no idea on the registering process.

David: That's not as complicated as you suppose.

Fred: Is it so easy? I never experienced this. Can you tell me something about it?

David: It is known that there is a time limitfor trademarks . And we should not have a similar trademark with the one in the same field.

Fred: Based on what you said, does it mean that we can not have a trademark like “lenova”, right?
佛瑞德：根據(jù)你剛才說的，是不是說我們不能注冊一個像“Lenova”這樣的商標，對嗎?
David: Correct. And our country follows the priority of use principle.
大衛(wèi)：你說得沒錯。而且我閏實行先使用，先擁有的原則。
Fred: Can you tell something about the preparation for the register?
佛瑞德：你能告訴我一些有關(guān)注冊的事情嗎?
David: Some relative documents will be needed and the fee may be quite dear. So you need to learn more about the process and regulations about this issue.
